Discover the New Generation of White Cash Registers in the Hospitality Industry
The latest generation of white cash registers (registered cash systems) in the hospitality industry represents a significant advancement. These modern systems send data directly to the tax authorities, improving upon the outdated system that has been in use for over a decade. This upgrade is necessary due to various shortcomings of the current system, such as slow transaction processing, difficulty integrating with modern technologies, and lengthy activation procedures with the "VAT signing card" (VSC). The new registers provide better reliability and faster performance, regardless of the quality of the internet connection. Even brief internet outages will not adversely affect the cash register system.
When Will GKS 2.0 Be Rolled Out to the Hospitality Industry?
The first white cash registers are expected to reach the first hospitality businesses by mid-2025. Following this, there will be a 2-year period during which every hospitality business currently using an older generation white cash register must upgrade to a new system that meets GKS 2.0 standards.
The Fiscal Data Module 2.0
The commonly known Black Box is also required for the new register, but note that it will be completely redesigned to meet new government guidelines. Therefore, we offer the Checkbox, which will comply with this new standard.
Key Improvements:
No More FOD Representative Visits: No need for a Federal Public Service representative to visit.
No More VAT Signing Card: The fiscal data module (FDM) is directly integrated, simplifying and increasing the reliability of the control module.
Faster Data Transfer: The old serial protocol is no longer used, allowing us to work with faster transport protocols.
Digital Receipts Possible: With modernization, digital receipts are now possible. Customers still have the right to a paper receipt, but businesses are no longer obligated to provide one automatically.
Benefits for the Hospitality Industry:
GKS Premium: Entrepreneurs using registered cash systems can apply for a premium that reduces social contributions. The premium varies based on the number of employees and the type of contract, with a maximum of €500 per quarter (€800 for employees under 26 years old).
Investment Deduction: When purchasing or updating a cash register system, you can benefit from a unique investment deduction of 20% as it stands.
Simplified Administration: The tax authorities have implemented a simplified procedure, eliminating, easing, or automating certain obligations.
Time Savings: Tax authority visits are no longer necessary, saving time.
Equal Treatment Under the Law?
There are calls from political parties and hospitality federations for broader use of the new cash systems. This could lead to a requirement for small businesses with revenues under €25,000 and other sectors to use a registered cash system. Policymakers must carefully evaluate this proposal to ensure fair and transparent tax collection, especially given the budgetary pressure from Europe.
